A fine-grained, grey-white to nearly white gneiss ( paragneiss ) of the Precambrian period, size of grains about 2 - 4 mm.
Technical and physical characteristics: Bulk density: 2,652 kg/dm³, bending strength: 16,09 N/mm², compression breaking load: 98,4 N/mm², abrasion resistance: 0,76 mm, water absorption: 0,26 %, frost resistant, polish constant.
Reference: Spandau railway station at Berlin/Germany.
Uses: Construction stone, ornamental stone, gravestone.
This stone internationally may be nominated as a granite. For the US- and Chinese market this is correct according to ASTM C 119 resp. GB/T 17670.
